HOW TO MINIMISE PORES
One of the biggest concerns in skincare, large pores are, yes, a nuisance, but not the end of the world. Really. Read on for tips on how to minimise pores with a lot of love and a little powder.
WHAT HAVE YOU GOT?
Soft skin that is lovingly hydrated and cared for.
SO WHAT’S THE PROBLEM?
I can see every single pore. And every single one looms large on my face. No, that’s not being melodramatic.
HERE’S WHAT TO DO…
First, let’s be clear: you cannot literally shrink the size of your pores or eliminate them completely, but you can make them less visible mainly through skincare. Large pores boil down to one thing: clogged pores. Yup, you can blame the joy of excess oil and dead skin cells for your woes. So you’ll want to avoid skincare products that clog pores and make you produce more oil (think greasy creams and drying ingredients such as alcohol) and look out anything with a good dose of salicylic acid (BHA) to exfoliate the surface of your face and inside the pore. Also, please do not go to bed without washing off your makeup. Seriously. You’re basically inviting grime into your pores if you don’t! Speaking of makeup, silicone-based pore-refining primers are obviously a game-changer, but blotting papers are also a godsend – curbing that oil from settling in to begin with.

Makeup artist and YouTube star Wayne Goss has come up with an ingenious way to tackle large pores with makeup. Using any pressed powder and puff, he advises to press and roll the powder into the pores, literally pushing it in to fill the pores out (rather than just dusting the powder over the face). That’s it!
HOW ABOUT SOME CELEBRITY INSPIRATION?
Ah, stars, they’re just like us sometimes. Even the supermodel of supermodels Kate Moss is prone to visible pores, which she can simply chalk up to – ahem! – aging (gracefully, we might add). As collagen and elastin fibres begin to break down and gravity does its thing, pores become distended and more oval. Firming products become a necessity here… Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence is said to have large pores, but do you think that keeps her up at night? The moral here, folks, is that your pores are never as large as you think.
