Vanessa Hong’s sporty take on minimalism has made her one of the most interesting street style icons on the fashion scene.
Vanessa Hong, the stylish 30-year-old behind The Haute Pursuit blog,
calls herself ”a creator” – no more, no less. The success of her blog
has led to the launch of her own e-commerce store, and has made her
one of the brightest shining stars on the street style scene. Hong
shares her time between Vancouver, New York and Beijing – but H&M
Life caught her in Paris, during fashion week.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
”My style, it's always about mixing high and low. I've always liked to dress with some athleticism and mixing it with something feminine. And always black and white.”
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE DESIGNER?
”There are a lot of emerging designers from China that I love, like Masha Ma and Yang Lee.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BEAUTY PRODUCT?
”La Mer – I know it's cliché but it's my favourite product. When I travel and my skin gets really dry, it is the only thing that helps.”
TELL US YOUR TOP THREE ITEMS FOR THIS SEASON!
”An oversized coat, which I already have. A pair of flat statement shoes, and for number three – something that is really colourful. Primary colours are definitely making a comeback, so I need something in a primary colour.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD BACK HOME IN VANCOUVER, AND HERE IN PARIS?
”In Vancouver it’s sushi. Here in Paris it’s anything Middle Eastern, I love falafel. Also, the Moroccan food is really good here.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SPOT ON EARTH?
”I have been to a lot of places, but so far it’s the small beach town Mui Ne in Vietnam. It’s incredible, totally untouched with great beaches, good seafood and great people.”
