#47: THE WEEK IN REVIEW
Despite all the horror, pain and suffering the world has seen the past seven days, some good and fun things have happened too. H&M Life rounds-up the year’s 47th week in entertainment, fashion and feel-good news.
THE FIRST TRAILER FOR ZOOLANDER 2
It’s been fourteen years since the original Zoolander premiered and in February the beloved male models are finally back. The first trailer was released on Wednesday and – as we had hoped and expected – it was hilarious. Although Hansel and Derek “Blue Steel” Zoolander are considered old news in the sequel, most other details revealed in the trailer hint that much hasn’t changed since the last time. The model duo is still trying to foil terrorist plots, the world’s best supervillain Mugatu is still evil, and Zoolander is still incredibly stupid. The most important new additions were an unrecognizable Kristen Wiig and two uberexciting cameos: Benedict Cumberbatch as an androgynous supermodel and Justin Bieber as, well, himself. It feels safe to say that this will be the most anticipated fashion film release of 2016.
ADELE’S 25 LEAKED
Hello, can you hear me? Your entire album leaked and is all over the web. It seems no one can escape the hands of the Internet these days. Not even Adele. A few days before her 20 November (today!) release of 25, all songs began appearing on websites, and links were provided through social media and an abundance of news sites. It happened to Lana Del Rey, Drake, Madonna, and basically every other artist with an hotly anticipated album on the works. But the 25 leak happened just two days before its official release – and after four years waiting you shouldn’t let the first listen come from a bad stream.
KATE MOSS IS A SECRET INSTAGRAM SPY
Some people are too cool for school and others are too cool for social media. Kate Moss definitely fits into the second category. The supermodel and style icon has always followed her own rules and no one is surprised that she’s stayed far away from Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. In an interview with Hello Fashion the icon revealed that she’s actually interested in who’s doing what on social media, and tells the magazine that she recently started ‘gramming’ in secret: “Otherwise I wouldn’t know what anyone was talking about” she told Hello Fashion.
THE NEW WORD OF THE YEAR ISN’T A WORD
For the first time ever the prestigious Oxford Dictionaries is introducing a new word that isn’t a word. Why? Because according to the world famous dictionary this pictograph (a fancy word for emoji) was chosen because it’s “the ‘word’ that best reflected the ethos, mood, and preoccupations of 2015”. The chosen ‘word’ is officially called “Face with Tears of Joy-emoji” and was chosen simply because it’s the most used emoji globally.
HARRY STYLES ADMITS TO HAVE HOOKED UP WITH A FAN
There’s hope for you, 1-D fans! During a round of “Never Have I Ever” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 21-year-old heartthrob hesitated for a brief second before holding up the “I Have” sign when the host asked if any of the band members had hooked up – meaning they’ve at least kissed – one of their fans. Other things we learned was that Liam Payne doesn’t have a problem dating older women after he admitted to have made out with a woman twice his age (meaning 44 years old).
