6 BEAUTY HACKS THAT WILL SAVE YOUR SUMMER
Banish summer frizz, fix self-tanner blunders and ease sunburn with these easy yet genius summer hacks.
BREW FOR SHINE
Good news, beer is actually good for your hair! However, the benefits of the drinks arise when used on the hair rather than when enjoyed as a drink so sorry, the ”good for your hair” excuse will not work when ordering that extra pint. Instead, pour some brew into a spray bottle and spray away. The proteins and sugar in the drink help fight frizz, which can be a problem in the summer. And it also brings out crazy shine. If you want to magnify the effects and reduce the drying effects of alcohol, you should boil the alcohol out of the beer. Simply boil in it a pot on the stove top for a little while and you’re done. Cheers.
CHILL YOUR RASH
Summer means bikini and swimsuits, and with that comes the caretaking of the bikini line. Regardless of your hair-removing method, there is always a chance of a bikini line rash. Redness, irritation and whatnot. Sigh. But hey, there is a quick and easy (and cheap!) way to soothe the pain and it involves chamomile tea bags, since chamomile is a naturally calming herb. Steep them first, then let them cool for 15-20 min in the freezer. Next, place them along your bikini line and relax. Let the herbs do their magic and you are good to go in no time.
CLAY IT AGAIN SAM!
Spending summer at the beach? Great! The beach is filled with good stuff that do wonders for your skin. If you find a spot along the water with fresh clay, you have struck gold in the beauty universe. Use the clay as a purifying facial mask, especially on the t-zone or slab some on an oily back. The clay dries out excess oil and leaves the skin mattified and clean. Or mix the clay with sand and create your own, all-natural body scrub. Scrub away on the beach and then dive right into the ocean to wash it off and reveal your new, sea goddess-like skin.
STICK IT IN THE ICE TRAY!
Aloe vera is a reliable summer essential, bursting with much needed moisture. It also has great healing powers and anti-inflammatory benefits which makes it a go to-product for all kinds of needs like bites, stings, small cuts and burns. Naturally it does wonders for sunburned skin as well, but – and here’s the trick – it is even more pleasant to use when iced! Squeeze aloe vera gel into an ice cube tray and use a cube when needed. Soothing only begins to describe the feeling of ice cold moisture-packed aloe vera on warm skin. Stock the freezer for a cool relief all summer long.
OOPS! I STREAKED AGAIN
Summer time is suntan time! Say hello to glorious skin and a healthy glow. But sometimes waiting around for a tan to take on can be a tedious task. That’s when we feel like giving our tan a head start with the help of a self-tanner. And why not? It is easy to use and gives the skin immediate radiance. But applying it correctly can be tricky. But do not fret! Any self-tanner mistakes such as streaks and orange palms are easily corrected with baking soda. Simply mix a paste of baking soda and water and rub it gently onto your skin. Watch the mistake disappear smoothly in front of your eyes. Magic.
Lazy summer days and hot summer nights often call for smooth legs. Beachwear, swimwear and light summer clothing work best together with smooth legs, and the easiest way to achieve that is by using a razor. Surely waxing is all good and the results last longer, but you cannot really beat the ultra-smooth feeling you get from a close shave. For an even more effective shave though, swap your shaving cream for your hair conditioner. It tames and softens the hairs and thus makes the razor blade glide more easily. As a bonus your legs will smell nice as well. Win!
