Derek Blasberg

Derek Blasberg, fashion writer and man-about-town, is one of our favourite wits on the internet so we had to ask him to tell us his social media must-follows for this week’s Follow Friday.

MICHEL GAUBERT ON INSTAGRAM
Michel is the DJ mastermind behind some of the best fashion show soundtracks, including Chanel, Proenza Schouler and Michael Kors. But his Instagram account is a non-stop hysterical assault. He finds vintage images and these never-before-seen hilarious old pictures that put a smile on my face every day.

INEZ & VINOODH ON TUMBLR
Inez & Vinoodh are one of my favourite photographer duos, and I’ve been so happy that they’ve opened up their lives to social media. I love scrolling through their Tumblr account to see behind-the-scenes pictures from the shoots, as well as a steady stream of adorable pics of their 10-year-old son, Charles.

LAUREN SANTO DOMINGO ON PINTEREST
Lauren is one of my best friends. One of the reasons I think we get along so well is because her arsenal of visual references is almost the exact same as mine. Her Pinterest account is the most popular that I follow, and if I ever need the perfect inspiration picture of a blonde, a dress or a sexy French femme fatale, I look on her board.

UBERFACTS ON FACEBOOK
I was late to join Facebook and the only reason I joined was because I was sick of fake Derek Blasberg’s getting access to all my friends! But now that I’ve joined, I’ve found fabulous sites like Uberfacts. The morsels that it digs up are sometimes informative and sometimes ridiculous, but they’re always amusing.

THE MET MUSEUM OF ART ON INSTAGRAM
I follow many of my friends on Instagram and I’m constantly amused by their amateur photographs but to remind me that the art of visual imagery has been an established medium for centuries, I follow New York’s Met Museum. (And it saves me from feeling guilty for not being able to get uptown to the museum as much as I’d like to.)
