Making a foray into the film world, Beyoncé starred as Foxxy Cleopatra in the third Austin Powers film, Goldmember, in 2002 – a stylish FBI agent going undercover as a star of the 1970's disco scene.
9. BEYONCÉ AT GLASTONBURY
Playing all the hits from her solo career as well as Destiny’s Child classics and even some covers, Beyoncé wowed the crowd during her headline slot at 2011’s Glastonbury, like a shiny diamond in all the festival mud.
8. WITH SOLANGE AT COACHELLA 2014
Festival-goers at Coachella in 2014 were in for a surprise during Solange’s set – two Knowles sisters for the price of one! Beyoncé joined her sister on stage, dancing to Solange’s hit Losing You in front of a gleeful audience.
7. FEMINIST AT THE 2014 VMAS
Beyoncé turned political at the 2014 VMAs, with a groundbreaking performance. Advocating for equality on stage in front of the word FEMINIST spelled out in giant lights, the singer made her message clear.
6. SINGLE LADIES (PUT A RING ON IT)
The video that launched a thousand memes – Beyoncé’s alter ego Sasha Fierce celebrated her singularity in Single Ladies, with a song and dance that went down instantly in pop culture history.
5. AT THE 2015 MET GALA
For the 2015 Met Gala, Beyoncé chose a jaw-dropping – and somewhat naked-looking – Givenchy dress that pooled at her feet, embellished with plenty of jewels. She topped off the look with an amazingly swingy ponytail.
4. BEYONCÉ AND JAY-Z
It’s hard to remember a time before this iconic power couple, regularly pictured courtside at basketball games. Beyoncé and Jay-Z apparently started dating in 2002, before a secret wedding in 2008 and the birth of their daughter Blue Ivy in 2012.
3. RELEASING HER FIFTH ALBUM
Beyoncé dropped her surprise self-titled album in December 2013, an honest, innovative collection of 14 songs and 17 accompanying videos. The reaction was almost universally positive and Beyoncé sealed her status as the reigning queen of pop.
2. DESTINY’S CHILD
Nowadays she’s undoubtedly the star of the show, but Bey cut her teeth in Destiny’s Child, as a key member of a shifting line-up that churned out such classic R’n’B hits as Say My Name and Independent Women.
