CELEBRITY LOOKS OF THE YEAR
Some people are just born with good style. After a year watching their fashionable moves on red carpets and around town, we round up ten of our favourite celebrity outfits of 2015.
10. KENDALL JENNER ON THE STREET
Is there any trend she can’t do? Kendall Jenner decided to test her style abilities out and about in New York by combining several on-trend pieces in one look: all-over tonal heather grey, an elegant coat-cape, and some tracksuit bottom-like yet luxurious wide-legged trousers paired with pointed pumps. A Kardashian-style outfit, perhaps, but one with a contemporary Kendall twist.
9. EDDIE REDMAYNE AT THE OSCARS
What to wear to win an Oscar? For Eddie Redmayne it was simple: a classic midnight blue tuxedo by Alexander McQueen, with contrasting black peak lapels. Rather than settling for a regular black-tie look, Redmayne flexed his fashion acumen, establishing himself as one of Hollywood’s best-dressed men in the process.
8. TAYLOR SWIFT IN TRIBECA
Known for her chic, gamine off-duty style, Taylor Swift’s best look came on a summer day in TriBeCa, New York, when she stepped out in a light turquoise minidress paired with demure peach pumps with block heels and a yellow leather handbag.
7. AMY SCHUMER AT THE GLAMOUR AWARDS
The amazing Amy Schumer is a big fan of beautiful statement dresses for red carpet appearances, and for the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards in London she chose this elegant number from Halston Heritage, finished with a bold metallic feature on the waistband.
6. CL AT THE MOSCHINO SHOW
The K-Pop queen and star of 2NE1 is one of the new style stars on the 2015 stage, often teaming up with best friend and style twin Jeremy Scott. For the Moschino show in Milan in September – Scott is creative director for the brand – CL, or Chaelin Lee, arrived in a fun and cute look, with added teddy bears for the whole Jeremy Scott experience.
5. ALEXA CHUNG AT LONDON FASHION WEEK
Alexa has always been a savvy casual dresser, and it’s thrilling to see her style grow up as she does. At London Fashion Week in September she showed how well a boyish look can work, in on-trend kick flare denim, a tailored grey blazer and some simple black loafers, proving that sometimes the easiest pieces are the most chic.
4. ZAYN MALIK AT THE LOUIS VUITTON MENSWEAR SHOW
It looks like Zayn waited until he had left One Direction to really bust out his best style moves. During summer’s menswear shows in Paris, he turned up in a printed Louis Vuitton shirt and tailored trousers with platinum cropped hair and some gleaming white trainers. It was bold and it worked, so Zayn’s style icon future looks bright.
3. FKA TWIGS AT THE MET GALA
For the Met Gala, Twigs chose an intriguing dress from Christopher Kane’s A/W 2015 collection, featuring lovers’ bodies intertwined together in multicoloured patchwork lace. An unorthodox choice for such an event, but the sartorially savvy star pulls it off with aplomb.
2. RIHANNA AT THE GRAMMYS
She’s used to grabbing headlines with provocative red carpet outfits, but for the 2015 Grammys in February, Rihanna went a little more demure than usual – and it worked a charm. A Barbie pink Giambattista Valli gown with an outsized poofy tiered skirt proved that BadGalRiri can be ultra girly and still amazingly cool at the same time.
1. BEYONCÉ AT THE MET GALA
How do you make an entrance at an event as glam as the Met Gala? Pull a Beyoncé: show up at the last second wearing the most stunning sheer dress you can find. She wore a shimmering jewel-encrusted Givenchy gown leaving very little to the imagination in what must be the most show-stopping look of 2015.
