A new season statement by Alessandra Airó

Take a cue from the Italian writer and style icon and greet Spring in signature prints and updated classics.

Italian women seem to have a certain confidence when it comes to fashion, and Alessandra Airó is no exception. She just makes everything look so right – whether it’s pairing a Justin Bieber t-shirt with a golden, see-through skirt or attending fashion week in thigh-high, patent orange boots. In other words, Alessandra Airó is the perfect muse for a new fashion season. We caught up with the style blogger and Grazia contributor – who is also set to release her debut novel this spring – in Milan.

WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?
”It could be taken from the wardrobe of a bored (and hopefully funny) heiress who is mixing and matching denim and vintage dresses.”

WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE ON EARTH?
”My home. And any window with an ocean view.”

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNER?
”[I love] the artsy aesthetics of Alessandro Michele for Gucci. Valentino's timeless dream by Pierpaolo Piccioli. I also love the work of Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent.”

WHO IS YOUR STYLE ICON?
”My grandmother.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?
”I’m an Italian girl so… If you want to make me happy, you’ll make me pasta al pomodoro. And give me a glass of red wine!”

IF YOU HAD TO LEAVE YOUR APARTMENT IN A HURRY, WHAT WOULD YOU GRAB?
”Harvey, a teddy bear I keep in my bed, also my lucky charm. My laptop. My iPhone. And a grey hoodie that is like a second skin for me.”

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO LOOK?
”Jeans, a white t-shirt, a big oversized cashmere jumper, my favourite blazer and a pair of cool boots.”

WHY IS FASHION IMPORTANT?
”To express myself, my personality and my current mood. And because it’s part of my family and my culture. Fashion is also a common culture in my country, Italy.”

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN HISTORY, WHAT FASHION ERA WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE IN?
”The 1920s. [I’d love to] wear a Charleston dress, drink whisky in a speakeasy bar and listen to jazz music... like in the film Midnight In Paris.”

WHAT ITEM WOULD YOU NEVER PART FROM?
”A white tee, of course.”

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?
”A dancer, a hostess. A writer. I’m actually working on the last one :-) ”

WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY FASHION PLEASURE?
”Taking off my shoes when I get home.”

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET?
”Meryl Streep. Also, a dinner with Leonardo DiCaprio wouldn’t be bad at all.”

WHAT DO YOU NEED RIGHT NOW?
”A pair of white jeans. A masculine black blazer. A weekend in Marrakesh. And the new Louis Vuitton sneakers from SS18.”

WHAT IS YOUR LATEST BEAUTY DISCOVERY?
”Caudalie Detox Oil, I apply it on my face before I go to sleep.”
