H&M Studio by Pernille Teisbaek
The style icon, fashion entrepreneur and master of Scandi-cool brings the best of H&M Studio AW 2018 to Paris' most fashionable destinations.
"It isn't easy!" Pernille Teisbaek proclaims about keeping her famed style on point during her newly announced pregnancy. "But I borrow a lot of my husband's shirts and style them together with oversized blazers, bike shorts and – when I feel for it – heels."
A style icon in the word's truest sense, Pernille Teisbaek has nearly 600,000 followers on Instagram, runs two businesses and is creative director at her own influencer marketing agency Social Zoo. Thanks to her impeccable stringency when it comes to what she wears, she's become one of the Internet's biggest influences and promoters of Scandi-style, a subject she's so frequently asked about that she's even written a book on it.
"It's all about styling your classic pieces in new and interesting ways by adding small details to your look. If you have good basics in your wardrobe you can avoid many morning crises – especially if you invest time in exploring new ways to style your clothes," she says about the key ingredients to succeeding with the sought-after look.
With the fashion month circuit around the corner, businesses to run
and new projects to execute, Pernille has a hectic autumn ahead of her
before welcoming a new baby to the family. We managed to catch up with
the icon in Paris – and followed her to some of her top spots in the
city of love and light.
"I'm really into suiting and I love tanned and brown colours," Pernille says about the new season trends she's most excited about right now. Dressed in a nipped-in cotton trench coat and a pair of chunky square-toed boots from H&M Studio, Pernille ticks two boxes on her list of the autumn's best trends, while roaming through the streets of the 1st arrondissement.
TELL US ABOUT THIS LOOK.
"The brown trench coat is my favourite piece in the Studio collection and styling it with a slightly lighter brown shirt underneath creates a monochrome feel. The belt adds feminine definition to the look, and since I’ve chosen to wear it as a dress, the chunky boots give a masculine contrast that makes it stand out."
WHAT ARE YOUR IMPRESSIONS OF THE STUDIO COLLECTION?
"I really like the classic feel, which in my eyes makes it long-lasting. I feel it’s important to add pieces to your wardrobe that you can wear over and over again and easily integrate with other basic pieces that you already own."
"I love coming to Paris. First of all, I love the architecture and the hidden gems that always seem to mesmerise me. I have good friends here too, who I love to visit, and I always have tons of interesting work and business to do when I'm here."
Pernille's home and heart is in Copenhagen, but she keeps returning to the capital of fashion for both work and leisure. Here, she shares her top Paris picks.
FOR A MORNING RUN...
On the right bank of the Seine lies Jardin des Tuileries. It's one of Paris' most iconic public gardens, and where Pernille prefers to sweat it in the break of day.
FOR BREAKFAST ON THE GO...
A block away from Tuileries lies Maisie Café, a cosy spot that serves some of the best vegan and vegetarian food in town. When you're in a hurry, their green juice of the day will give you an instant energy boost.
FOR A CHIC LUNCH...
Café Charlot is a fashion week must-do and one of Pernille's mainstays in Paris. Her favourite dish? The artichoke with vinaigrette, of course.
I love the architecture and the hidden gems that always seem to mesmerise me
FOR AN AFTERNOON DRINK...
The legendary Hôtel Costes has an old-worldly air and is one of Paris' best spots for people-watching. It also serves as one of the greatest places for coffee and wine, especially during fashion week.
FOR A GLAMOROUS DINNER...
One of the most luxurious restaurants in town, Caviar Kaspia is where to go if you want to indulge in the high life. The potato with caviar and pickles is Pernille's favourite thing on the menu.
Before departing Paris and returning home to Copenhagen, Pernille shares a glimpse of her everyday essentials and answers a quickfire questionnaire, while sipping on a cappuccino and nibbling on a croissant (what else?) at Café Charlot.
WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE IN YOUR BAG?
"A snack bar as I’m always on the run, plus loads of my son's dummies."
WHAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP?
"I take my little son into our bed and give him and my husband lots of kisses before getting up for a shower."
ONE BEAUTY PRODUCT YOU'D NEVER PART FROM?
YOU HAD TO EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. WHAT WOULD IT
"I can eat yoghurt with müesli 24/7."
CLOTHING OR FURNITURE?
THE MOST ADVENTUROUS THING YOU'VE EVER DONE?
"Road tripping through California."
