How to perfect the classic evening look
Sometimes you just want to look chic. But if you need some extra sparkle in your life, we show you two glittery hacks, inspired by the Chinese New Year celebrations.
STEP 1
Start with a clean and moisturised face. Then apply a
thin layer of foundation (or tinted moisturiser, BB or CC cream) to
your entire face. Pay special attention to areas under the eyes and
around the mouth and nose. You want to be sure your skin is smooth and
even-toned. Moisturise your lips with balm now so it has time to sink
in and leave your lips soft for colour later.
STEP 2
Curl your lashes and brush your eyebrows. Fill any
sparseness in your brows with a brow pencil. Use light, feathery
strokes to keep the look natural. You don’t want them to look drawn on.
STEP 3
Next, add a little bit of glow to the highest point of
your cheeks. Use a shimmery blush or highlighter and blend it in well.
Add a bronze shimmer around the eyes so they pop.
STEP 4
Now it’s time for your cat-eye. Go for high drama by
using a gel or liquid liner. Draw a line from the inner corner of the
eye all the way out. Use a business card or make a stencil from a
Post-it so your cat-eye wings out perfectly. Clean up any smudges or
shaky lines with a cotton bud. Carefully apply lots of mascara.
STEP 5
Blot away any excess lip balm with a tissue. Make a
smooth base for your lips by brushing foundation on them. Wipe off any
excess foundation and then powder your lips so your colour lasts all night.
STEP 6
Take a red lip pencil and line your lips before
colouring in your whole mouth. Blot with a tissue, then powder lightly
again. Finally, add a thin layer of red lipstick.
STEP 7
The result – dramatic but surprisingly natural with
glowing skin and standout lips and eyes.
