The most perfect base and how to achieve it
It is not about covering up your skin.
Before you start, make sure your face is clean and well-moisturised. Take a good look at your face to decide how to approach it and how much coverage you need. To achieve this natural-but-perfect base, opt for a lighter foundation. We used NATURAL SATIN FOUNDATION, a lightweight, breathable formula that gives a slightly dewy finish.
Apply the foundation using a denser brush, and blend it all out using a makeup sponge.
Use coverage where you actually need it – not all over your face. If you have spots or other imperfections, cover them with a concealer, like the CUSTOM CONCEALER TRIO. Use a dense brush to spot-check and fluff it out on the edges with a fluffier brush.
Set the look with the PERFECTIONIST FINISHING POWDER. Use a big, fluffy brush to apply it – dust off the excess product, and then lightly dust it over your t-zone. If you want a dewier finish to your look, give it a light spritz of the REFRESHING FACE MIST.
For this look, we kept everything natural – some clear brow gel, a little lip balm and curled lashes. Don’t be afraid to leave your eyelids as they are. ”The natural darkness of the eye area gives your face dimension”, says makeup artist Emi Kaneko.
Want to upgrade your perfect base? Go get your highlighter. We used the WHIPPED HIGHLIGHTER in Rose Pearl. Use your finger to dab it on wherever the sun might hit your face – the highest points like your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose, your Cupid’s bow. Put a little in the inner corner of your eye, too, why don’t you.
The whipped highlighter is a nice and light product – if you want to build a little, using a more pigmented product, opt for the limited edition STROBING PALETTE. Mix and match to find the perfect shade for your skin tone.
