#48: THE WEEK IN REVIEW

AMA, BFA, JLaw and ANTI. The 48th week of the year gave us two glamorous award shows and saw a new dream squad take form. This is a round up of the past seven days in fashion and entertainment.

J.W. ANDERSON’S HISTORIC WIN
All eyes were on British fashion this past Tuesday. The BFAs are – perhaps – the most important and prestigious award ceremony in the industry, and this year featured one of the most fashionable red carpets ever with David and Victoria Beckham, Lady Gaga and of course style mavens like Anna Wintour and Naomi Campbell. Jonathan Anderson (of J.W. Anderson and Loewe) made award history by winning both womenswear and menswear designer of the year. Other winners were Gucci designer Alessandro Michele, artist FKA Twigs and model Jourdan Dunn.

Justin Bieber entered the Billboard Hot 100 list with 17 titles, Getty Images.

BIEBER FEVER IS THE NEW BEATLEMANIA
For over 50 years The Beatles held the Billboard Hot 100 record with 14 titles on it simultaneously. Their record was beat by Drake earlier this year following his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Laterelease. This week, The Beatles and Drake both have to see their records shattered by 21-year-old Canadian Justin Bieber, who entered the list with 17 (out of 18) titles from Purpose. At the moment Bieber has three songs on the top 5 – the number one being Adele’s Hello. Lucky for Bieber the British singer’s album only features 11 songs.

THE DINNER OF DREAMS
Emma Stone, Adele and Jennifer Lawrence. Can you imagine a better trio to go out for Mexican food with? We can’t. J Law is probably the spider in this new friendship web since she’s been seen hanging out with Adele several times during this year, and has been reported yelling “Your ass is mine, Stone!” at a red carpet event back in 2013. In an attempt to unravel this outing, Vanity Fair resembles the trio to an iconic 2007 one: Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.

GIGI’S NEW LOOK AT THE AMAs
This year’s American Music Awards was – of course – not only about singing and dancing. The red carpet was (almost) as important as the event itself and this year’s red carpet winner was model and it girl Gigi Hadid who turned up in a super short bob – which is a major departure from her signature waist-long flow. Unfortunately it was fake. Her long waves are still in place and were hidden underneath a half wig – meaning the front was real but the back was not.

THE TOUR OF THE YEAR
After years of waiting and months of listening to (mostly false) rumours Rihanna’s ANTI will be streaming from speakers, headphones and everything else within in a matter of days. All secrecy surrounding the album aside, the Barbados artist did provide us with both good and great news during the week. The good news? The ANTI world tour will start in February. The great news? She’s bringing The Weeknd, Travis Scott and Big Sean with her.
