The 10 most stylish pets
They’re cute, friendly and almost as famous as their owners – the most adorable celebrity pets nowadays even rule social media. We run down the ten most stylish for this week’s Hit List.
10. BLAKE LIVELY AND PENNY
Confirming the celebrity trend for Malti-poos, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds shacked up with their pup Penny in 2011. The cute curly-haired brown dog is often seen in her owner’s arms strolling around New York, or else frolicking with Ryan’s older retriever Baxter.
9. RYAN GOSLING AND GEORGE
The visible love between heartthrob Ryan Gosling and his canine companion George is enough to inspire Tumblrs dedicated to their friendship. The cute cross-breed has even appeared on talk shows with Ryan, and he has described the pooch as the great love of his life.
8. RACHEL BILSON AND THURMAN MURMAN
Kindhearted Rachel has taken in numerous dogs from local animal shelters over the years, and our favourite is the formidably-named Thurman Murman (so called after the character from Bad Santa), an extremely cute mutt often spotted at her side.
7. RIHANNA AND OLIVER
Only the most adorable pet would do for Rihanna, and her pup Oliver fits the bill perfectly. A Malti-poo, he’s no average handbag-pup and has been with Rihanna since 2007.
6. PARIS HILTON AND KIMCHI
She’s become almost synonymous with the trend for cute and tiny pups to fit in one’s handbag, but it’s clear Paris Hilton adores her Pomeranian Kimchi. The name came from Kimchi’s origin – a pet store in South Korea, and Paris is a well-known animal-lover, with a full menagerie of dogs, cats and even monkeys.
5. MARIAH CAREY AND HER JACK RUSSELLS
Mariah Carey is in the running for best dog owner, or certainly the most lavish of them all – she has splashed out thousands of pounds on luxurious puppy hotels for her eight dogs, including her much-loved Jack Russell Pipitty Jackson and Jill E Beans.
4. DITA VON TEESE AND ALEISTER
Dita Von Teese is proud to be a cat lady. She has even commissioned oil paintings of her beloved cat, Aleister. The unusual Devonshire Rex, who has over 34,000 Instagram followers, travels with her around the world in a monogrammed Louis Vuitton travel case.
3. MARC JACOBS AND NEVILLE
They say a dog is a man’s best friend, and it’s true for Marc Jacobs, whose bull terrier Neville has stuck by him through thick and thin. The adorable (and fashionable) hound has over 98,000 followers on Instagram, making him one of the hottest It-dogs on the style circuit.
2. CARA DELEVINGNE AND CECIL
Always one to lead the pack, Cara Delevingne wasn’t going to settle for a traditional pet. Instead, she adopted Cecil, a tiny bunny who was instantly beloved by the fashion industry – though one incident where Cecil got lost at Mulberry HQ did show that he can be as wild as his owner.
1. KARL LAGERFELD AND CHOUPETTE
Fashion’s favourite cat is much more than just Karl Lagerfeld’s pet – she has inspired a beauty range, a collection of accessories and even a book. The pampered puss, with her striking blue eyes and white fur, has seen her cartoon image pop up on bags and wallets by the designer, who maintains that his is “the most famous cat in the world”, and she even has her own Wikipedia page.
