MILAN FASHION WEEK BY CAROLINE BLOMST

Super stylish photographer Caroline Blomst went to Milan to spot new trends, attend fabulous fashion shows and eat great food. This is her report from Milan Fashion Week.

Milan Fashion Week is the best place for trendspotting. Being a street style photographer and blogger, I am always on the hunt for the next big thing, new inspiration. Milan’s street fashion is different from the other cities on the fashion week circus. It is more fun, more colourful. Being here makes me happy!

Fashion and trends are less serious in Milan, people are not afraid to play around with clothes and their personality – which I like.

This season, I loved the 70’s retro trend and all those colours. And the glitter and metallics trend – I even got a pair of glittery, pink boots. The perfect detail to spice up your autumn look!

Outside the show venues, the usual chaos ruled. There were a lot of street style icons and celebrities, but no one made the paparazzi go bananas as much as Kate Moss. She sat front row at the Gucci show, and her presence was the talk of the week. Models and their off-duty style are a great source of inspiration! Right now, there are many new faces on the catwalk, which is super fun.

Before I left Milan, I celebrated the end of fashion week by having a panzerotti at Luinis – a must in Milan!

I started off Milan Fashion Week with some filming at Il Duomo, one of the world’s largest cathedrals. It is located right in the city centre and makes for a gorgeous setting!

More is always more with Anna Dello Russo. She really is the epitome of Italian fashion, in a fantastic way. Anna is Milan.

Myself, I opt for a more Scandinavian, discreet and practical style when I’m working. Years travelling the fashion circus, I’ve learnt to dress comfortably. The heels have to wait until the end of fashion month!

Flared jeans and monogram boots – I love this look.

The typical Milan girl wears a sporty look and accessorizes with round glasses and a colourful bag. This look is both stylish and comfortable!

The sneaker trend is huge in Milan. I’ve never seen this many sneakers at fashion week! Chanel’s luxe metallic and tweed sneakers are a great inspiration, but the sports brands have some great budget alternatives.

Gizele Oliveira is one of my new favourite models. Her style is a mix of vintage and new, prints and metallics. A great look that suits her perfectly!
