THE PERFECT BACK STRETCH
Ready, set, sweat! Amanda Bisk shows you how to stretch your lower back and hamstrings in three steps.
DIFFICULTY: 1 OUT OF 5
Amanda Bisk is a fitness expert, yoga aficionado and one of two H&M Life personal trainers. This week's exercise is for your back and hamstrings. The wide-legged forward fold with a twist is a pose that everyone should do daily. It stretches your muscles and makes your body feel awake.
When you do this exercise, it's important that you keep your back as straight as possible. It will protect your lower back and give you an even better hamstring stretch.
Here's what to do!
Stand with your legs wide apart and your toes pointing forward.
Bend your back forward from the hips (keep your back straight!) and guide your left hand to your toes on your right foot.
At the same time, lift your opposite arm to the sky and follow its movement with your eyes.
Hold for five long deep breaths.
While keeping your back straight, pull your arms back to your body. Now twist the other way.
Guide your right hand to your toes on your left foot. Lift your left hand to the sky and follow its movement with your eyes.
Hold each twist for three deep breaths. Repeat the exercise three times on each side.
