Strong women and the beauty of independent minds set the tone of the H&M Studio A/W16 show. Click or swipe through the slideshow to see our best pictures from last night!

A cast of glorious women – led by Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen who opened the show – modelled the upcoming H&M Studio A/W16 collection, shown in Paris last night. The beautiful runway, staged in the historic building Bourse de Commerce, was created to look like a frozen lake, reflecting the influence of nature in the collection.

But as much as celebrating nature, this Paris night was about womanhood and expressing power and the diversity of the female character.

This collection is about the strength and beauty of women

Strength and individuality was the red thread – represented by the models on the catwalk, by FROW pros like Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine and of course, by the clothes themselves. The collection mixes powerful tailoring with Swedish heritage and handicraft, with surprising elements like gaucho hats and cowboy boots adding some drama to it all.

“This collection is about the strength and beauty of women, and how we express that power through our style. I love the contrast of strong tailoring with handicraft touches of Swedish heritage and folklore,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s creative advisor.

After the show, the fashion elite mingled at the following cocktail – the perfect way to really kick off Paris fashion week. Our photographers captured everything from the models getting ready backstage to the most stylish frowers, and of course, the main attraction of the night – the catwalk show.
