A Grazia IT-girl and budding streetstyle star, Chiara spends her time shoe designing (you can spot her work in Chiara Ferragni’s shoe line) and consulting.
During the recently wrapped Milan Fashion Week, we asked her to style and wear her favourite H&M pieces. The result: Chiara Capitani’s signature mix of statement pieces beloved wardrobe staples.
WHO IS YOUR STYLE ICON?
”I don’t have a real style icon. My inspirations come from fashion magazines and web researches. It all depends on my mood.”
WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?
”I think I’m quite a simple girl, I don’t like exhibitionism. My style perfectly reflects my personality. Accessories are very important in my looks, especially when I wear a white t-shirt and a pair of Levi’s 501. I go crazy for shoes, it is no coincidence that I’m also a shoe designer!”
WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNER?
”It’s hard to name just one. I fall and (un)fall in love with brands depending on where I am in life. Miuccia Prada is undoubtedly at the top of my list, because she’s always able to be sporty yet super feminine at the same time, which is what I try to express with my style. Then of course I can’t avoid citing J.W. Anderson, Raf Simons, Phoebe Philo and Hedi Slimane, although he’s not at the helm of Saint Laurent anymore. Among the more ‘street’ ones, Off-White and Alyx are my favourites.”
WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE ON EARTH?
”Definitely Tokyo. It’s a very important city for me, I go there mostly for work but if I can, I go also on my own. It is the city that inspires me the most, I love to do style research in vintage shops there. I always find unique pieces for my wardrobe.”
Fashion helped me expressing myself. That’s my way of communicating with people.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?
”I love food, mostly traditional Italian food. My friends know that: I’m a food lover! If I could, I’d eat french fries every day.”
WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO LOOK?
”A sweatshirt and denim.”
WHY IS FASHION IMPORTANT?
”I’ve always been a shy person, and fashion helped me expressing myself. That’s my way of communicating with people.”
IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN HISTORY, WHAT FASHION ERA WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE IN?
”Right now I would say the ‘90s, because that decade really reflects my style nowadays. If I could imagine myself in a fashion era forever it would be the ‘30s: women were so feminine and sensual at that time, two very important characteristics for me.”
WHAT ITEM WOULD YOU NEVER PART FROM?
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?
”What I do today: designing.”
WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY FASHION PLEASURE?
”Shoes! Sneakers or not, I have a wardrobe only for shoes. Some are part of my archive, some are the ones I use daily.”
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET?
WHAT DO YOU NEED RIGHT NOW?
