3 ways to update your French manicure

The French manicure is classic and chic, but let’s face it, a little boring. Luckily, we’ve got three twists on the tried-and-true style that are anything but ordinary. Vive la French!

Geometry gets chic. After applying a clear base coat, use strips of sellotape to make upside triangles on the tips of your nails. Paint the triangles in your favourite colour and peel off the tape while it’s still slightly wet. Once dry, follow with a top coat.

Why do lines when you can get dotty? Start with a red base colour. Once it’s dry, take a bobby pin and dot the tips of your nails with black polish. Finish your ladybird nails with a clear top coat.

This ultra-modern look skips nail colour altogether. First, use rubbing alcohol along the cuticles so there’s no oil or dirt, then apply a clear base coat. Once it’s dry, use a thin brush to place H&M glitter glue around the outside edge of the nails. Sprinkle glitter all over the nail. Wait until it’s dry, then use an eyeshadow brush to wipe away the excess glitter. No one’s got nails like these!
