The stars of the Kenzo x H&M campaign are revealed

Legendary photographer Jean-Paul Goude is the man behind the upcoming Kenzo x H&M campaign, starring seven of the most influential icons of our time.

Even if his name doesn’t ring a bell, you probably know Jean-Paul Goude’s work. After all, he is responsible for some of the most influential fashion and music imagery of the past five decades. His creative partnership with Grace Jones resulted in what is perhaps his most well-known legacy – more recently he was breaking the internet together with Kim Kardashian, as he shot her for her famous Paper Magazine cover (2014).

Now Jean-Paul Goude has taken on the Kenzo x H&M designer collaboration. For the campaign, created in his own, unique style, he shot seven diverse icons: legendary supermodel and activist Iman, actress and activist Rosario Dawson, hip hop artist Chance the Rapper, musician and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, actress Chloë Sevigny, rapper Suboi and activist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez.

”We love to work with our idols, and Jean-Paul Goude is a true icon. His images for Kenzo x H&M are incredible, and capture the personality, positivity and freedom of the collection,” say Kenzo Creative Directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon.

We can’t show you the result just yet – but press play on the video above to see what Jean-Paul Goude has to say about creating the Kenzo x H&M campaign. We do think this is a match made in fashion heaven.

“Working with H&M and Carol and Humberto on the KENZO x H&M campaign is a real adventure. I love the attitude that they have brought to the collection, and their youth, energy, fun and style,” says Jean-Paul Goude.

Chicago-based hip hop artist Chance the Rapper is one of the most celebrated rappers right now. His mixtape Coloring Book will undoubtedly make several ”Best of 2016” lists. Chance the Rapper has also worked with fellow Chicago artist Kanye West.

Chloë Sevigny made her acting debut in the American 1995 classic Kids, immediately establishing herself as one of the most iconic actresses of her generation. Sevigny’s fashion sense has also led to some prestigious modelling jobs.

IMAN – Supermodel, activist and founder of Iman Cosmetics
Somali-born Iman was discovered by photographer Peter Beard while she was still in university in Kenya. Only a year later she landed a Vogue shoot. Iman went on to become one of fashion history’s most influential models. In 1994, she founded Iman cosmetics. Iman is also celebrated for her charitable work in Somalia.

ROSARIO DAWSON – Actress and activist
American actress Rosario Dawson is currently starring in the FX series Daredevil, and is set to appear in numerous upcoming films. Dawson is equally known for her activism, namely in US politics and fashion.

RYUICHI SAKAMOTO – Musician and composer
Tokyo-born Sakamoto first gained major success in 1978, as a member of the band Yellow Magic Orchestra. Since then, his work has been awarded with an Oscar (for The Last Emperor, 1987), a Bafta, an Emmy and two Golden Globes. Recently, he scored the award-winning film The Revenant.

SUBOI – Musician
Vietnamese rap queen Suboi first learned how to rap by listening to Eminem and Mos Def. She is one of Vietnam’s most successful hip hop artists, and also one of the first internationally successful female rappers to emerge from the country.

The youth director of ”Earth Guardians” is a powerful voice on the front lines of the youth-led climate movement. Xiuhtezcatl Martinez describes himself as an ”indigenous change agent, public speaker and eco hip hop artist”.

The Kenzo x H&M collection arrives in over 250 selected stores worldwide, as well as online, on November 3. The collection features clothes and accessories for both men and women.
