Katniss Everdeen by Florian Meacci.

1D versus Biebs, Bond versus Katniss versus… a Danish girl, supermodel smarts versus K-beauty innovations, November is promising to be a feisty month. Read on for all the things you need to know about right now!

Ding-ding! This month sees many modern day icons squaring off against each other. First off, the battle for millions of teenage (and beyond!) hearts. That’s right, One Direction AND Justin Bieberare releasing their new albums on the same day (13 November). Cue the tears, the roller coaster of emotions, the pop melodies streaming from every imaginable outlet. Which begs the question: can you be both a Directioner and a Belieber? Loyalties are sure to be tested...

Movie buffs will be dividing into camps as well. Are you a Bond-ista? Or is rule of (J)Law your regime? The long-awaited Spectre (6 November) might just trump the closing of the Hunger Games saga (20 November), but there’s a dark horse in the running: Eddie Redmayne stars alongside Alicia Vikander in The Danish Girl (27 November), the story about Lili Elbe, one of the first persons to have gender reassignment surgery. Oscar material they say, it’s surely the fashionista’s choice?

Get ready to mark those calendars, beauty buffs! Because on 10 November, not one, but two much-hyped beauty books are being launched. In one corner, Timeless Beauty: Over 100 Tips, Secrets, and Shortcuts to Looking Great by Christie Brinkley, the supermodel (back when the word really meant something) who promises to keep things classic. And the challenger? Little Book of Skin Care: Korean Beauty Secrets for Healthy, Glowing Skin by Charlotte Cho, the founder of Soko Glam and every girl’s guide to the hyper-modern and fast-paced world of K-beauty.

You are probably queuing up as you are reading this, aren’t you? Yes, the H&M x Balmain collection is hitting stores and closets on 5 November. Get your Kendall Jenner on and rock those sexy looks!

Michelle Obama by Florian Meacci.

Who can resist a successful spin-off? To wit: Project Runway Junior, which premieres on 12 November in the US. With Tim Gunn returning, and a judging panel of Kelly Osbourne, Christian Siriano and Seventeen Magazine’s Aya Kanai, this time the budding designers are all between 14 and 17 years old. Confirmed guest judges also include Bella Thorne and – gasp! – Michelle Obama. Hormonal and precocious teens under pressure – what could go wrong?

Is it an elaborate joke?! No, it is, of course, art. The Rain Roominstallation that wowed the crowds in London travels to Los Angeles County Museum of Art (1 November). In a place where rain is rare, the experience of walking around in a room with constant rain – but without getting wet due to an ingenious motion detector – must be… peculiar. Or, as Alanis Morisette said: ironic.

But fine, you want to know about three things you really have to latch onto this month. WE GIVE YOU EGGS! They are the new trendy ingredient on the resto circuit and are spawning venues dedicated to them – from Egg Slut in the US to The Bad Egg in London. Eggs aren’t your thing? Maybe Barrecore is? This ballet-inspired workout can be done at home and over the internet and is a favourite of the fashion set. Now you just need that wardrobe piece that sets you apart. Easy peasy: it’s the leather jacket with writing on the back. A bit of punk, but soooo 2015 (or even 2016 as Haider Ackermann showed them for spring), the “best friends” version – worn in tandem with your BFF – was all over the street style blogs during fashion weeks. Well, that’s November sorted then!
