Back to school? A lesson in layering
Getting your kids ready for a new school start and preparing them for any weather conditions can sometimes be a bit… tricky? Let us ease your mind for a minute with this layering guide that will keep your kids warm, dry, happy, and comfortable – all year round.
The secret of layers
It’s all about layers! Well-chosen layers will keep your kid comfortable in any weather. As it’s more difficult for kids and babies to regulate their body temperature, the secret is to combine clothes for warm and cold degrees. Add garments to keep your kid warm, and remove items when they need to cool down.
LAYER 1 – INNER LAYER
The key rule for a good base layer is soft, comfortable, and breathable materials like THERMOLITE® EcoMade technology — a lightweight material that keeps you warm when the temperature drops. The inner layer is also closest to the skin so no itching, please!
LAYER 2 – MID LAYER
Choose a material that traps the heat in cold temperatures and aim for some airflow between the base and middle layers to keep your kids warm. An excellent choice might be a breathable fleece that dries quickly and a pair of leggings.
LAYER 3 – OUTER LAYER
The outer layer, or shell layer, withstands rain, wind, snow, and is durable, functional, and flexible. Our functional materials enable kids to feel comfortable on their every adventure. Also — do not forget the smart reflectors for visibility & safe playing in the dark.
Get prepared
Prepare your kids for their first day of kindergarten, or heading back to school, with everything they need for some outdoor fun.
Shell clothing
Opt for a wind repellent cover with a water-resistant BIONIC-FINISH® ECO impregnation, when choosing a shell jacket and a pair of shell trousers. A fun outdoor day requires a good, durable, and flexible cover – from head to toe.
Rain clothing
Whether they are splashing around in the puddles or exploring the forest on a rainy day – good rain gear is a real saviour to keep the kids dry. Durable and flexible, and easy to rinse off — that is a solid choice for every wet outdoor adventure.
Wind jacket
Don’t let the wind ruin a good day — A wind jacket with a soft inside made of fleece will keep them warm, happy, and comfortable.
Backpacks
Kids will always need a cool backpack to keep their things in place. Snacks, schoolbooks, a pair of extra socks, or a pencil box – a great backpack fits all their favourite things.
Accessories
Make the wintry weather and the rainy days a bit more bearable (and stylish!) Padded gloves and a beanie always come in handy.
Shoes
A rainy day or some chilly weather brings a lot of fun such as puddles, mud, rain, and snow. Invest in durable, lined, water-resistant boots to keep freezing water and chilly temperatures away from their little feet.
Base layer
Multiple layers are great for active children. They often switch between moving around and playing peacefully which means they need help regulating their body temperature. Choose a perfect base layer and add garments that are easy to take on and off.

Sustainability
Transform old into newOnly the imagination can stop you when it comes to transforming ripped clothes into new ones. Choose among patches and foot straps to save those well-worn outdoor kids’ clothes!
Wash less and wash cold
Washing clothes too often have a substantial impact on the environment, and it wears the clothes down faster. If the garments are clean and smell fine — there’s no need to put them in the washer. And when it is time to wash, save energy by washing in cold temperatures and turning the clothes inside out. Airdry to make them last longer!
