Zhao Liying and Feng Shaofeng celebrate Chinese New Year with H&M
The superstar couple reveal their Chinese New Year plans, preparations and wishes to H&M Magazine.
On January 25, millions of people around the world gather to celebrate the official start to 2020 and the Year of the Rat. The new H&M Chinese New Year campaign doesn’t just celebrate the start of the year, but also the love between Chinese actors Zhao Liying and Feng Shaofeng.
Ahead of the celebrations, the couple — and stars of The Monkey King trilogy — had a chat with H&M Magazine.
HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE THE CHINESE NEW YEAR?
Liying: ”Cleaning the house and pasting up spring festival couplets. Above all, having a family reunion dinner is what matters most.”
Shaofeng: ”Staying with my family and having a reunion dinner on New Year’s Eve.”
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE FROM THE H&M CNY COLLECTION?
Liying: ”I love the hoodies and the dresses. The hoodie, for instance, can be perfectly matched with a skirt. Also, the dresses in the collection go perfectly well with a denim jacket which is a perfect mix of cute and cool.”
Shaofeng: ”The red hoodie is something very wearable that also has a holiday vibe. It goes well with everything, like a denim jacket or even a trench coat. It’s your call.”
LIYING, TELL US ABOUT YOUR RED-CARPET STYLE VERSUS YOUR OFF-DUTY STYLE!
“It depends on the occasion and the overall design of the outfit. If it is a special occasion, I would prefer glamourous gowns as they are more appropriate and outstanding. However, I won’t hesitate to be in comfortable and casual clothes when I’m off-duty.”
SHAOFENG, HOW ABOUT YOUR EVERYDAY STYLE? WHAT WOULD YOU WEAR FOR IMPORTANT OCCASIONS SUCH AS ANNIVERSARIES OR FESTIVALS?
Shaofeng: “I’d prefer sporty, casual or athleisure styles on a daily basis. For special occasions, I will choose formal attire, say, a smart suit.”
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS AND WISHES FOR THE YEAR OF THE RAT?
Liying: “May my family and friends be healthy and safe in the year ahead. And I wish my fans the best of luck in their work or studies. As for me, I hope to further develop myself in the coming year.”
Shaofeng: “I wish my family to be healthy and happy in the new year. And my new TV series will be presented in 2020, in the hope of bringing more new good work to the audience.”
THE NEW YEAR IS DRAWING NEAR. WHAT ARE THE NEW YEAR TRADITIONS IN YOUR CHILDHOOD THAT YOU WILL KEEP DOING IN THE YEARS TO COME?
Liying: “Above all a family reunion dinner. But there are many other things I observe worth keeping, for example, watching the Spring Festival Gala, gifting red envelopes, posting spring couplets and visiting relatives. All of which make a wonderful New Year.”
Shaofeng: “Family reunion, dinner and staying-up late on New Year’s Eve, these traditions define a real Chinese New Year.”
The H&M 2020 Chinese New Year campaign and collection launch exclusively in 11 markets: Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Canada on 2nd January.
