these are very thin material- good for hot summers but don't expect to be rough and tough fabric. I wouldn't be surprised if they rip easily but I'm happy that they are light enough for the summer. The drawstring isn't functional so for a slimmer body, you will need some waist alterations. 9-10 lenghwise fits my 9 year old perfectly. have some flexibility in length because they are elastic at the bottom so the excess can be a little bunched up.
