i'm a short midsize girl but i bought this in an xxl because i wanted to try the men's hoodies since the women's hoodies never seem to be stocked in a good size for me and haven't always fit the best in store. i can kind of understand why this might feel like it runs short for men, but it fits at a perfect length for me at 5'2. i typically would go for a large in men's for an oversized fit, such as in my nike hoodie which is loose enough on me to be comfortable but not quite as cozy as i want. i think i probably could've gone for an xl or even a large if i wanted, but i typically like having a loose fit on me, plus the xxl is roomy which is more flattering since i have a bigger chest and because i love having sweater paws with my hoodies. only thing is that i wish it came with drawstrings!
